Esplanade Riel Bridge, which is a pedestrian only bridge, was completed in 2003 and was designed by Colin Douglas Stewart. It enables pedestrians to pass safely across the Red River in the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

When visiting in downtown Winnipeg and you wish to go to St. Boniface, which is a suburb in the city of Winnipeg, and you are on foot, there is no better or safer way to cross the Red River, than to walk across the Esplanade Riel Bridge. People can take their time to go across here, and admire the view from both sides of the bridge.

There is a companion bridge that runs alongside this one, called the Provencher Bridge, which is strictly for vehicles, so the city of Winnipeg really does have their infrastructure in place, however they also have the space to do this, whereas many cities would not be able to build two...

This bridge actually has a restaurant on it, so if someone is walking across and feels like stopping to take advantage of the view and getting a bite to eat, they are able to do that right on the bridge itself. On a glorious sunny day a person sitting in the restaurant will be able to see the city all around them from out the windows.

This is a very recognizable bridge and one that is very popular with tourists and Winnipeg locals.
