The dramatic coastline of Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata is shaped by the relentless work of natural elements including waves, wind, and rain.
In all, Parque National de Cabo de Gata covers an area of 45,663 hectares in the extreme southeast of the Iberian Peninsula in the region of Andalusia. Of that whole area, 12,000 hectares are in the marine zone which drops to a depth of 60 metres.
The park which is also known as Cabo de Gata-Nijar, was designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1997.
