This picture of the extraordinary light in the lighthouse at Cape Meares on the Oregon coast in the USA would make an ideal poster in a games room. The Cape Meares Lighthouse was constructed in 1890 and the light is perched upon an octagonal tower that is only 38 feet tall. The lighthouse stands on the edge of a cliff at approximately 200 feet overlooking the waters of the Oregon coast.

The light was decommissioned by the Coast Guard in 1963 and was replaced by a powerful beacon on a huge concrete blockhouse. The lighthouse was immediately vandalized, the lighthouse keeper's area then had to be destroyed and the four bulls eyes from the First Order lens were stolen.

Eventually the light was turned over to the Oregon State Park and over the years three of the four bulls eyes were recovered. To this day the lens on the light has not been restored totally and while visiting the Cape Meares Lighthouse on the Oregon coast you can climb into the lantern for a closer look.

Each year there is a photo contest for the best picture taken of the Cape Meares Lighthouse in Oregon, USA. Some of these beautiful photographs can be made into a fantastic poster for any wall in your house.
