It's a mystical sight to see a single orca whale or a group of Orcas travelling together in their family pod.

This large male orca was travelling in the wings only a short distance from his family as the pod made its way into Weynton Passage towards Queen Charlotte Strait off Northern Vancouver Island. As the sun sunk lower in the sky and began to set, the light reflected in the whale's mist created by its breath.

An Orca Whale has a single blow hole at the top of its head. With each exhale, bushy plumes of mist are dispersed into the air and in the right light conditions this creates a magical image.
