Originally the Norseman Restaurant was meant to be a bed and breakfast but the building was not large enough to hold the amount of tourists that came to Newfoundland Labrador.
The owner decided to try the food business and opened this small restaurant and art gallery in 1994. By 1998, her husband joined forces with her and the restaurant was expanded and is now recognized as one of the best throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
On cold nights, a fire burns to keep visitors warm and partake in some excellent seafood, wild game or other specialties that may be on the menu....
... The dessert menu is incredible but when you actually try it, your taste buds will go crazy and wonder why they have never had something this good before.
The view from the Norseman Restaurant is stunning as you overlook the ocean and the chances of seeing icebergs, whales or dolphins from your dining table is highly likely. On Tuesday and Friday evenings in July and August, there is a dinner theatre which offers guests to the Norseman Restaurant a night to remember while watching a play called "Tales of L'Anse aux Meadows".
Before your evening of fine dining and/or entertainment, stroll the Gaia Art Gallery and explore the vast selection of Newfoundland arts and crafts. Carvings, jewelry, slippers, paintings, books, games, music and souvenirs are some of the items to see in the art gallery.
