From above Lake Pukaki on the South Island of New Zealand you can see across the horizon to the beautiful snow covered peaks of Mt. Cook and the Southern Alps. This picture almost seems too unique to be true, but it is a actual photograph of the scenery that surrounds the South Island.

Pukaki Lake and Lake Tekapo are very important to the New Zealand community as they provide over half of New Zealand's hydroelectricity storage capacity.
