The beautiful National Theatre with its neo-Renaissance architecture stands on the right bank of the Vltava River in downtown Prague, Czech Republic.
The National Theatre building was constructed in the late 1800's, but unfortunately soon after the first performance at the new theatre it was destroyed by fire. The complex was rebuilt in quick time soon after by J. Schulz. The elaborate National Theatre unwent careful restoration work between 1976 and 1983. The city of Prague has a fascinating mix of new and old architecture dating from medieval times to the present modern day.
