The National Gallery in Ottawa, Ontario in Canada is a museum of visual arts where a collection of historic and contemporary works of art are on display. The Gallery does not just exhibit work of Canadians but also a variety of international pieces.
Since the 1880's the gallery started to acquire great pieces of artwork and in 1883 the first catalogue that was six pages long was published. In 1957 an updated catalogue was printed which included full illustrated collections and in 1988 the first volume was published. To date, the catalogue outlining all the works in the National Gallery has been published in various languages and the list continues to grow every year.
