A single Mountain Daisy standing amongst the greenery of Mt Ruapehu on the North Island of New Zealand is very difficult to miss due to its coloring. The angelic white petals begin to grow and open on this Mountain Daisy as the bright yellow center on this flower brightens up the landscape.
The conditions on Mt Ruapehu such as the lighting, soil and weather are ideal for the Mountain Daisy to flourish and grow to its maximum. Each flower grows on a single stem and hundreds can be seen across the landscape of Mt Ruapehu in December and January when each flower takes form and opens.
Originally from the South Island of New Zealand where the Mountain Daisy grows the best, the North Island also seems to be one of their favorite spots. The Mountain Daisy seems to really thrive in the area of Mt Ruapehu due to the fact that summer months brings so many of these pretty blooms out with their sword shaped leaves, long stems and distinct colors of the flower head.
As you are hiking Mt Ruapehu, you will cross paths with a variety of different flowers and greenery that thrive in the moist soil and rays from the sun of New Zealand. The Mountain Daisy is one of the easiest to spot but you must be sure that it is a Mountain Daisy as there are many different species of the daisy flower and some are very close in appearance.
