The Cotton Topped Tamarin has a great home at the Auckland Zoo as it is created in a smaller version of his homeland of Colombia. The only difference being is that they do not have to find their own food for survival as it is always replenished by the employees of the zoo. A diet consisting of insects, fruit and plants is what makes up the nutrition which this small monkey needs to remain healthy and strong.
The lifespan of a Cotton Topped Tamarin in the wild is...
... usually between twelve and fifteen years and it grows to be around the size of a squirrel which is approximately ten to eighteen ounces in weight. The smallest of the monkey species with an average body length of about seventeen centimeters without the tail and about twenty-five if you include the tail.
