The Monastery Loreto and its church has a bell tower that can be seen in the photograph here and it has a world famous chime in it that has been heard across the city of Prague for more than 300 years. The whole structure has a cloister, the church of the Lord's Birth, a Holy Hut, and then the bell tower.
The Lobkowitz family built the church that was originally on this site, and then the Monastery was built as a place for pilgrims to come, worship, and to stay for a while. The generations of this family have been taking care of these buildings ever since. The buildings were built in the...
... baroque style and are still some of the best examples of this kind of architecture in the whole of Prague.
There is also a section in the Monastery that houses the famous Loreta jewels that were apparently a gift from the Holy Virgin Loreta and as part of the fee to visit the Monastery, visitors can also see these jewels that are still housed in the building and are worth a lot of money today.
The Capchuin Monks, who live nearby in another Monastery, help to take care of this area now as well, and pilgrims still come to this area on a religious spiritual journey, and the monks help to look after them when they arrive.
