Driving from Te Anau visitors pass by spectacular scenery in the form of lakes, rivers, and mountain ranges. Shortly before arriving at Milford Sound, the road travels through Homer Tunnel which pierces through a mountain range for 1.2kms and opens out to the steep rock faces which are the beginnings of the Fiord.
