In this group photo of the Maori people at the Wairakei Terraces on the North Island of New Zealand, one can see the differences in their clothing and tattoos. Different head pieces are worn by some of the people, a variety of clothing, some of the women wear beautiful flax woven cover ups and each person in the group wanders the Wairakei Terraces in barefeet.
On either side of the group, are totems which have been beautifully hand carved by the Maori people and have taken hours of work to complete each of the figures. The details on these carvings are incredible, especially when you are visiting the Wairakei Terraces and are able to get a close look at them.
