Male Orca: Scientific Name:
Orcinus orca
A male orca with his tall distinctive dorsal fin appears out of no where in Weyton Passage off Northern Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada as the sun is setting turning the horizon into an incredible rainbow of yellow, orange and pink colors.
This lone male orca is probably not too far from the rest of his family as the Northern Resident killer whales stay with their pod for their whole life. The quiet waters off Northern Vancouver Island give this male orca and his family plenty of space to roam as they search for food or just enjoy a leisurely swim.
There are plenty of whale watching excursions available around Northern Vancouver Island and it is an excellent way to view these majestic marine mammals in their natural habitat.
