Lupine Plants: Scientific Name:
Lupinus arcticus
In late June or July each year, Arctic lupine plants bloom and are a common sight around Mendenhall Lake near Juneau in Alaska. The leaves form at the base of the plant with pointed oval leaflets on the long stem and are extremely showy when in full blossom.
There are a variety of different types of lupine plants throughout the world with some of them carrying a poison which can be deadly for wildlife and also in humans if ingested.
When all the Lupine plants are in bloom across the Mendenhall Lake landscape you get some beautiful panorama photos.
