On a clear day the view of Te Werahi beach is spectacular. However, on a dark, rainy day visibility is almost nil proving how necessary the beam from the lighthouse becomes to the passing ships.
Just to the South of the Cape Reinga lighthouse is 90 Mile Beach, which is such a wide area that cars and buses drive on it as though it was part of the highway. Whatever the weather, a visit to Cape Reinga on the North Island of New Zealand will be memorable.
