Standing at Prague Castle in Prague in the Czech Republic, you can see for miles across the Mala Strana District also known as the Lesser Town. The Lesser Town of Prague is the most historical district in Prague and one of the oldest boroughs.
The name originated because of the position of Lesser Town which is on the west bank of the River Vitava just below Prague Castle and on the east bank sits the larger towns where they are joined by the Charles Bridge. The famous Petrin lookout tower and the Church of Our Lady Victorious where millions of Roman Catholic always remained faithful are located in the Lesser Town of Prague.
The architecture in the Mala Strana District dated back far before the baroque era and was absolutely outstanding until a fire in 1541 destroyed most of the unique buildings of Lesser Town.
