Lemur Catta Auckland Zoo: Scientific Name:
Lemur catta
This Lemur catta, better known as a Ring-tailed Lemur, has a fairly evil look about him as he peers at us as we take his picture at the Auckland Zoo on the North Island of New Zealand. This lemur is not sure what to think, whether or not he should trust us or run in the other direction.
As this ring-tailed lemur secretly peers from behind the fern bush, his black markings around his eyes and the yellow gleam from the eyes are clearly seen. A few of the black and white stripes of his tail are also very visible through the plants.
This Lemur catta might be trying to protect his surroundings as during the breeding season they can show signs of being territorial and protective. If they feel threatened there have been cases where...
... the Lemur catta strikes out with its nails but this type of behavior is very rarely seen.
There are eight ring-tailed lemurs that reside at the Auckland Zoo in New Zealand and they have created a very cozy family environment. Six of the eight are siblings from the other two that go by the names of Don and Sheba. Be sure to bring your camera when visiting the Auckland Zoo in New Zealand as there are many types of animals to catch on film.
