Clyde Dam in Central Otago on the South Island of New Zealand was built in the 1990's which caused the formation of Lake Dunstan that was created on the Clutha River. Before Lake Dunstan was part of the geographical landscape of Central Otago, there were many controversies that took place due to the building of Clyde Dam and the problems that incurred.
Lake Dunstan is a world of excitement for outdoor activities like boating, waterskiing, fishing, rowing and swimming as well it provides local orchards and vineyards with the water that they require to flourish. The beautifully colored green lake stretches from the town of Clyde through the Cromwell Gorge until it reaches the town of Cromwell.
