As the tide recedes at sunset along the rugged coastline of the Kaikoura Peninsula, rock formations begin to appear which seem to endlessly span across the horizon into the sunset colors. The light emits a unique glow as it sparkles off the rocks and across the surface of the water making it easy to watch the waves crash when they come face to face with the rocks.

A colony of fur seals resides around the Kaikoura Peninsula and as the sunset colors adorn the coastline, the light reflects off their shiny wet bodies while they laze about. The rocks span the ocean for five kilometers at low tide, so one never knows how far out these seals will be seen.
The Kaikoura Peninsula on the South Island of New Zealand is a place where sunsets are stunning and tranquility surrounds you except for the call of the wildlife and waves lapping up onto the rugged coastline. The best time to really enjoy the beauty of the Kaikoura Peninsula is when the tide is low, a sunset adorns the sky and the Fur Seals have become active as they fight among themselves for the perfect rock to relax upon.
