Imagine being in Johnstone Strait on a boat or kayak, it's early morning and the only sound is the occasional blow of a nearby whale or the call of a bald eagle above.
You are surrounded by the rugged coastlines of Vancouver Island on your left and one of the many islands that dot this region on your right.
Johnstone Strait is a stretch of water which runs along the Northeastern edge of Vancouver Island from Telegraph Cove to Rock Bay, connecting Queen Charlotte Strait in the north with the Strait of Georgia further South. Johnstone Strait is a marine highway for many Alaska bound cruise ships as well as a popular vacation destination. One of the main attractions are the northern resident Killers Whales of Johnstone Strait.
The waterway of Johnstone Strait is a boaters paradise, which leads to many bays, coves, and inlets to explore and anchor in along the way. You are bound to see some of the inhabitants of the waters including killer whales, dolphins, sea lions, and much more.
