During the winter, Johnston Creek becomes a mass of ice but once the weather warms up, the melt starts to happen at a fairly rapid pace. The water then begins to flow over the rocks through Johnston Canyon making its way to the creek forming beautiful waterfalls along the way.

Johnston Canyon is a tranquil place amongst the wilderness of Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada that must be seen while visiting Alberta. Take Highway 1A for about 23 kilometers west of Banff until you come to the Johnston Canyon trailhead. Follow this trail up to the lower falls of Johnston Creek which is about a three kilometer hike or add the extra two kilometers and explore the upper falls.
