The ice begins to melt around the Johnston Creek in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada as Spring starts to approach the area.

During the winter, Johnston Creek becomes a mass of ice but once the weather warms up, the melt starts to happen at a fairly rapid pace. The water then begins to flow over the rocks through Johnston Canyon making its way to the creek forming beautiful waterfalls along the way.

Snow and ice still rest upon the sides of the cliff but that will soon melt causing small waterfalls over the rock ledges. Johnston Canyon is a tranquil place amongst the wilderness of Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada that must be seen while visiting Alberta. Take Highway 1A for about 23 kilometers west of Banff until you come to the Johnston Canyon trailhead. Follow this trail up to the lower falls of Johnston Creek which is about a three kilometer hike or add the extra two kilometers and explore the upper falls.

All of the seasons are spectacular in Johnston Canyon in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada but the ice that builds up along the creek in the Winter is outstanding.
