Information about the "Jacks Blowhole Catlins" photograph:

Jack's Bay is a small village in the Catlins and a popular place for vacationers when touring the South Island of New Zealand. The most significant thing in this community for visitors to see is Jack's Blowhole which was formed by the mystical wonders of the sea and land.

Jack's Blowhole is fifty-five meters deep, one hundred and forty-four meters long and sixty-eight meters wide amongst the steep lush green cliffs. The blowhole is two hundred meters inland and it is quite amazing to actually see the distance that it is away from the sea.

From the beach at Jack's Bay there is about a thirty minute walk to reach the blowhole. High tide and a good stormy day is the ideal time to view Jack's Blowhole as the waves come crashing in and create a spectacular display of nature.

The Catlins is a place of natural beauty to explore and is a part of New Zealand that should be thoroughly enjoyed. There is a lot to see and do while in the Catlins, but be sure not to miss Jack's Bay and the journey to the famous blowhole.

Jack's Blowhole situated 200 metres inland from the sea and is a 144 metre long, 68 metre wide hole with steep rocky sides in the Catlins, along the Southern Scenic Route, Catlins Highway, Otago, East Coast, South Island, New Zealand.
