They were soon ordered for deportation and remained out of sight for many years until one by one the Acadien people reappeared and rebuilt a new country in old Acadie. Today you will find Acadien people in different parts of the world but New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island is where they have reclaimed their identity.

One third of New Brunswick's population are Acadiens and they speak the only official bilingual language in Canada.
