Information about the "Historic Charles Bridge Prague Czech Republic" photograph:

On the historic Charles Bridge in Prague, Czech Republic, thousands of people walk across this bridge to admire the scenery, shop at the market stalls, explore the stunning statues, listen to the entertainment, enjoy the fresh air or capture pictures of the area. A very busy place during the tourist season as visitors find the Charles Bridge a fascinating piece of history.

The Charles Bridge spans across the Vitava River for approximately 516 meters and is home to three amazing historic towers being the most spectacular ones throughout the world. This bridge began construction in 1357 but it took until early in the 15th century for its completion.

It was the only way to get across the Vitava River in Prague in the Czech Republic until 1841. Cars and horses were once allowed on the historic bridge but that soon changed making it only open to an electric tram and buses. Since 1978 after some major repairs were required, the Charles Bridge is now only a crossing for pedestrians.

Now the bridge is adorned with many vendors selling their craft work and an ample amount of buskers performing for tourists to Prague. The amazing sunsets that take place over Prague in the Czech Republic are beautiful from the historic Charles Bridge and the amount of people on the bridge lessens considerably as evening closes in.

The historic old section of Prague sits on one side of the river and the newer section adorns the opposite side. You have not encountered the true atmosphere of Prague until you have spent some time on the Charles Bridge.
