The Haast River is a stunning place that is surrounded by lush green mountains in the South Westland District on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. It extends for a 100 kilometers and enters the Tasman Sea near the town of Haast, New Zealand where the low lying grass is a favorite spot for the locally owned cattle to graze.
The Haast River flows north through a deep narrow valley until it eventually ends up joining the Landsborough River. It then continues on in a west north route amid a glaciated valley to a coastal plain that enters into the sea.
