The National Park is full of geological discoveries, from ancient oceans, illustrations of plate tectonics, glaciers, and mountains that have been pushed up from the ocean floor. Western Brook Pond is a lake which was created through continential plate movement. It was once an let or fiord but through the collisions of tectonic plates, the entrance of the inlet was closed. Gros Morne National Park is full of interesting and unique geological findings and worth exploring on any visit to Newfoundland.
