The Gooderham Building, which is also called the Flatiron Building, can easily be seen in downtown Toronto near the financial district, it is distinguished by its red brick exterior and intriguing shape.
It is called a 'flatiron' building because it has a flat shape to it; almost as if the building was built and then flattened after it was completed. It only stands five stories high, so now it is easily dwarfed by the surrounding modern office skyscrapers, however when it was built it was the first flatiron building and predates the famous Flatiron building of New York.

... started on the building in 1892. It was built on the same spot as a building that was called the 'Coffin Block', and it was even shorter than the Gooderham Building. When it was finished it was the offices for Gooderham & Worts distillery until 1952, but then it was sold in 1957.
Today the building is also well known for a mural on the long side wall that gives the appearance of the building having more windows than it does, and this makes the building even easier to spot in this sea of skyscrapers and towering modern office buildings.
