Giraffe Habitat Auckland Zoo: Scientific Name:
Garaffa camelopardalis
This giraffe goes for a daily stroll in his habitat of African grasslands at the Auckland Zoo on the North Island of New Zealand. You can observe the giraffe as he gracefully maneuvers around his habitat from an elevated board walk that gives you an outstanding view of this incredible animal.
This picture is a prime example of how long the neck of a giraffe can be and the placement of his markings which are unique on every giraffe. With its long mane of hair down the back of his neck, adorable eyes and patterned body, the giraffe is one of the most magnificent mammals that we should take honor in being able to see.
The giraffe has many neighboring friends in the Pridelands habitat some which are lions, zebras, rhinos and...
... springboks. Each habitat is constructed to be as close to their natural environment as possible.
The Auckland Zoo is open daily and on various days you can head to the giraffe habitat and experience eye to eye contact with the giraffe. He will rest his head upon the fence and examine you as much as you examine him. The Auckland Zoo in New Zealand has times arranged to have these close encounters with the giraffe as well as many of the other animals in the habitat of the Pridelands.
