Franz Joseph I was an Austrian Emperor who reigned from December 2, 1848 - November 21, 1916 which is known as the third longest record in the history of Europe. It made Franz Joseph I the longest serving German speaking monarch and a statue was placed in the Burggarten in Vienna, Austria in his honor.
Franz Joseph I was born in Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna, Austria and was the oldest son who was raised by his mother as a future emperor. At the age of thirteen, Franz Joesph I started his career as a colonel in the Austrian Army and this was the beginning of a long life in the emperor world.
Franz Joseph I was married in 1854 at the age of 24 and had an unhappy life as a married man. His wife could never adapt to the lifestyle...
... that he led even as hard as she tried, their first daughter died as an infant and his son allegedly committed suicide. His wife was later stabbed to death and Franz Joesph I never fully recovered as this was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Franz Joesph I died in 1916 and the city of Vienna, Austria was in disarray for some time but his memories still linger on and the statue still stands in Burggarten, Vienna in Austria.
