Animal pelts hang from a roof in one of the historic buildings at Old Fort William Historic Park in Thunder Bay, Ontario. This gives visitors to the fort an insight to the ways of life between 1803 and 1821.
People used to trap, hunt and shoot animals for their own means of food and warmth during the winter months in Thunder Bay, Ontario and then sell or trade some of the furs. Old Fort William Historical Park is a provincially funded historic site where exhibits display the fur trade business.
In 1973 only three of the historic buildings were open to the public but today there are approximately forty buildings that have been reconstructed and are open for public viewing.
