The block house, and grounds of Fort Wellington, Ontario, Canada. Built in 1812 and used intermittently as a base to defend against invading American forces until 1869, as well as being used as a military storage site and training ground, Fort Wellington was declared a National Historic Site in 1923. Prescott was the most logical site for Fort Wellington to defend against attacks on the St Lawrence Shipping route between Montreal and Kingston, Ontario.
