The feel of soft, hot sand on the soles of our feet is definitely a feeling of summer as we walked bare foot in the Te Paki Sanddunes leaving only our footprints in the sand. These sand dunes are whipped up to a height of 100 metres and pushed 5 kilometres inland by the powerful westerly winds that blow in off the Tasman Sea. Many tour operators stop at Te Paki so that passengers can stretch their legs before careering down the sand dunes on boggie boards - head first. I came across this bus load of young travellers making their way up the dunes leaving footprints in the sand. Join us on our 2005 New Zealand Photography Workshop!
