This pod seems to have more female members than male as when they surface, the shorter dorsal fins belong to that of the female and the larger fins being males. The Orca are identified by their dorsal fins and the whitish colored saddle patch behind their dorsal fin and a pod always travels together.
Sighting a pod of Orca is always exhilarating even if you are out on the waters off Northern Vancouver Island daily. In any boat, whether fishing, whale watching or simply for pleasure, the beauty of a pod of Orca passing by in the pinkish hues from the sunset is always a priceless image.
