A woman dressed in traditional clothing dating back to the historic colonial days, explains to visitors how family meals and life was done at the Fortress of Louisbourg, a National Historic Site in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The meals are laid out in bowls and on plates, with all the vegetables being picked from the gardens and the bread being baked by the woman of the house.

A display of china adorns the cabinet in the background which is a replica of the furniture and china once decorating the De Gannes House (Military Captain).
