Situated in the Yoho National Park of British Columbia Canada, Emerald Lake was discovered during the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1882. A guest lodge was built on the shore of the lake, in 1902 to accommodate travelers passing through. Emerald Lake itself is created by the glacial run off from the surrounding mountain ranges. Attracting summer vacationers from around the globe for hiking, canoeing, or just for the sights, Emerald Lake is considered one of the jewels of the Canadian Rockies.
