Soon the men were joined by their families and French traders also became some of the residents of Discovery Harbour and not long after, the British Army pensioners moved in. The dockyard, sailor's barracks, an assistant's surgeon house, a cemetary, a commanding officer's house, a naval surveyor's house, the Keating House and the Officer's Quarters were some of the more prestige buildings constructed.
