Cute White Seal: Scientific Name:
Phoca groenlandica
This extremely cute and fluffy White Coat Harp Seal pup was quite relaxed on the pack ice off the coast of Prince Edward Island, Canada. At around 3 days old the fur of the harp seal pup turns from the yellowish colour it was at birth to this fluffy white colour. Harp Seal pups are known to be the fastest growing and precocious of all young mammals, more than tripling their weight in 2 weeks.
I spent a few minutes with this cute little white coat harp seal during a visit to the ice floes on the Gulf of St Lawrence near Prince Edward Island.
