Curro Romero, the matador who was famous for fighting bulls is honored by a statue outside the Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza in the El Arenal District in the City of Sevilla in Andalucia, Spain. Born in 1933 in Camas, Spain, he started his bullfighting career when he was twenty-one years of age in La Panoleta, Seville.
Throughout his years, he pleased thousands of people that attended the bullfights, especially during special events that took place in Andalucia, Spain. Curro Romero was very unique and his quality in bullfighting is indisputable amongst his piers. He was considered one of the great ones in this type of career.
Curro Romero had one of the longest professions in bullfighting but it was not a continuous stretch as there were many irregular years for him. He had his own artistry techniques to fighting bulls but it was unfortunate for many spectators as he usually only made one or two appearances a year.
Curro Romero continued bullfighting until the latter half of 2000, just before his sixty-sixth birthday after forty-two years in the business. To show his appreciation and great skill in the bullfighting career, a statue was displayed in the city of Selvilla in Andalucia, Spain.
