Cromwell is a town in Central Otago, New Zealand where people once found gold at the river junction which brought in many miners. Eventually the gold became far and few between and the town then became a place for farming and the growing of various fruits.
The meeting of the Clutha River and the Kawarau River is where Cromwell originally laid until the 1990's. The Clyde Dam and Lake Dunstan was built and the meeting of the two rivers flooded along with the old town of Cromwell. A third of the town was rebuilt on higher ground and some of the historic parts were saved.

... museums. Lake Dunstan is a great place for fishing and the 18 hole golf course is open all year round. Summer brings jet boaters to the rivers and snowmobiles to the hills in the winter months.
