The cloud formations at sunset over the Schlern Nature Park region are quite fascinating, always changing shape and colour. The mountain Croda di Maglio (Italian) or Hammerwand (German) is 2128 meters high, not the highest mountain of the Schlern, in the Dolomites, South Tyrol in Italy, but still breathtaking with the orange rays of the setting sun reflected in the clouds.
The Schlern/Sciliar area of the Dolomite Mountains has been a Nature park since 1974, as has many regions in the South Tyrol. The Schlern Nature Park covers around 6400 hectares and from May to October cars are not allowed on the roads, except for residents or guests staying at hotels within the park.
As in most Nature Parks, picking flowers, mushrooms or...
... uprooting any plants is strictly prohibited in the Schlern Nature Park, however, watching the beauty of a sunset over the Croda di Maglio or Hammerwand, whichever language, is not forbidden and can be appreciated by all who visit the South Tyrol in Italy.
