A wooden hut sits along the side of the road at Passo Montecroce in South Tyrol, Italy surrounded by fields of wild crocus flowers. The crocus grows from corms and are hardy perennials that are found amongst woodlands, scrubs and meadows. Crocus flowers come in approximately eighty different species and their colors vary enormously with mauve, lilac, yellow and white being the more prominent ones. Crocus flowers grow to be about three to five inches in height and are divided into two separate groups known as spring-flowering and fall-flowering.
