These two cows live at a really high altitude as they live at Port de la Bonaigua (Bonaigua Pass) in the Pyrenees Mountain Range in Catalonia Spain. Cows are very sturdy animals and they can be taught to adapt to any climate around them. They also can use their four stomachs to help sustain them over a longer period of time, so they don't need a constant supply of food.
Cows are a domesticated animal and are often raised on farms for their milk, or meat, or for products like leather. These cattle that live high in the mountains in Spain do belong to a farmer however they roam free range over much of the...
... mountain landscape.
They do however have to be careful of predators in the mountains, especially when food may be scarce for other animals as if a number of animals got together in a pack, they could take down a full grown cow, but most important it protecting the calves as they are vulnerable to predators as they are so young and cannot get away as easily.
