This cute looking animal is a cougar and is the largest wild cat found in British Columbia. This cougar, found on Vancouver Island, was watching us long before we spotted him. Generally the cougar is a solitary animal which hunts alone and avoids contact with other cougars and humans.
The cougar is an animal which occurs mostly in Western North America in areas which provide adequate cover as well as prey.
