The Coast Guard 508 off Northern Vancouver Island carries out various operations all of which include but are not limited to keeping boats and travelers out of any danger, environmental mishaps and responding to any search and rescue calls.

The Coast Guard around North Vancouver Island operate various types of rescue equipment; one of which is the rigid hulled inflatable boat with either inboard or outboard motors which are known to be extremely fast for responding to any emergency calls. British Columbia became part of the Coast Guard on July 20, 1871.
