The Route Napoleon is the road on which Napoleon Bonaparte travelled to Lyon to regain power after his stay on the Isle of Elba in the Mediterranean Sea.
High above Castellane, at the top of a massive rock, stands Chappelle Notre Dame du Roc. Originally, this high rock was the site of a Roman fort, and Petra Castellana, an ancient Roman town. Castellane did not move to its present location until the 13th century.
