Along some of the bumpy landscape on the way to Cape Kidnappers in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand, passengers have time to disembark the tractor and explore the area as the driver maneuvers over some rough terrain. Gannet Beach Adventures loads passengers into the back of a comfortable trailer pulled by a tractor and takes passengers on tours to the famous Australasian Gannet colony at Cape Kidnappers.
Once you reach the Gannet Colony, you can view these amazing birds at a fairly close range as they carry on with their daily duties in their natural environment. One can either stay aboard the trailer and watch the Gannets or partake in a half hour walk to the Cape Kidnappers Lighthouse and the upper colonies. The walk is not strenuous but is on a moderate level which can be enjoyed by all family members.
If the weather is not cooperating, many tours still head out to Cape Kidnappers and you are required to dress appropriately and bring along some snacks. The guide on these tours is extremely knowledgeable on the entire area and any questions you may have about any of the stops along the way are encouraged to be asked.
These tours are scheduled at different times each day as low tide is a necessity for these tractor and trailers to leave. Each of the tours is approximately four hours in duration where an hour and a half is spent viewing the Gannets at Cape Kidnappers, New Zealand. Tours with Gannet Beach Adventures are extremely interesting and a terrific way to see the coastline of Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.
