Canadian Lynx Animal Picture: Scientific Name:
Lynx canadensis
A Canadian Lynx stands atop the forested area in the Laurentian Forest at the Biodome de Montreal in Quebec, Canada as we take his picture. The Canadian Lynx is an intriguing looking animal which belongs to the cat family and is generally found throughout Canada, Alaska and some of the northern regions of the United States.
The ears of the Canadian Lynx are shaped like a triangle with small tufts of hair extending from the top and the fur on the sides of their face is longer than what is on the rest of their body. This animal has long hind legs, a short tail and feet that are covered in fur so that they can walk atop of the snow.
During the summer months, the fur coat of the Canadian Lynx is brown and as winter approaches it...
... changes to silver grey. This animal grows to be about seventy to one hundred and twenty centimeters long and stands at around thirty-two to fifty-eight centimeters high.
While visiting the Biodome de Montreal in Quebec, Canada you can usually see the Canadian Lynx resting atop the rocks. When they arise, they wander along the banks of the stream and the best time to capture a picture of this animal is early in the day or later when the sun starts to go down. This is the most active time of day for the Canadian Lynx or around feeding time which consists of horsemeat, dead rats and the occasional thigh bone.
