On Parade day the multitudes of people who show up in downtown Calgary are entertained by clowns and costumed characters even before the main Parade begins.
The Parade lasts around 2 hours and travels a large circuit of cordoned off streets in downtown Calgary. A police escort is partly the contribution to the event by the local police department in Calgary.
