Other purchase options for Butterfly Species Victoria
When you visit the Victoria Butterfly Gardens in Victoria on Vancouver Island, British Columbia you will find many different species of butterflies. This one in particular is known as the Giant Owl Butterfly and it originates from Central and South America.
The large eyespots on the Giant Owl Butterfly are similar to that of an owl's eyes which protects them from many predators. Most species of butterflies are creatures of the day but the Giant Owl Butterfly is more active at dusk and dawn and has been mistaken at times for flying bats.
The brown wingspan of the Giant Owl Butterfly can be as wide as seven inches and an adult will feed on rotting fruit. One of their favorites is the banana and the larvae can be an extremely big pest in banana plantations.
Although this species of butterfly is very interesting, there are many different types and colors at the Victoria Butterfly Gardens on Vancouver Island. Spend a few hours at this attraction and watch different species of butterflies flutter pass you, feed on a variety of fruits or rest peacefully on leaves of tropical plants.
